It's frustrating to see unsafe blends on the market - especially when people just want their tummy to feel better. |

Are "Digestive" Essential Oil Blends Safe? (Dangerous Essential Oil Blends Part 3)
Before we dive into the specific safety issues with digest blends, let me remind you why pre-made blends can be risky.
As someone who has reviewed over a thousand essential oil blends in the last 12 years, I can tell you it's almost impossible to find one that's truly safe for the whole family. And that puzzles me because I've helped others create hundreds of family-safe blends, which is why I always encourage people to make their own blends instead of buying something pre-made.
When you mix just two or three essential oils together yourself, you know exactly what's in it. You can skip the ones that are unsafe for kids, skip the ones with high risks, and still end up with a blend that works beautifully.
So let's take a closer look at digest blends.
These are marketed to help with digestive upset like bloating, cramps, or nausea. But when I reviewed several of the most popular digestive blends, I found a disturbing pattern. Most of them contain carcinogenic essential oils.
And that's a big problem.
One well-known company's digestive blend contains Fennel, Anise, and Tarragon, all of which are classified as DO NOT USE according to Essential Oil Safety Made Simple™ since they are carcinogenic. This means they are not safe for kids, they are not safe around pets, and they aren't even safe for you! So when you see these digestive blends being marketed as safe for families, they're not.
Just because the herb versions are safe doesn't mean the essential oils are safe.
Essential oils like Fennel and Anise and even Basil, once they are steam distilled, the potentially carcinogenic constituents and the anti-carcinogenic constituents are separated during distillation. The essential oil does not contain the anti-carcinogenic constituents, or at least not as many, and it contains way more potentially carcinogenic constituents.
Just like with breathe blends, just like with anti-germ blends, there is no regulation in the industry to stop companies from selling you these unsafe formulations.
It's up to us to do our own homework and protect ourselves and our families.
Does that mean you have to suffer from digestive issues and not look to essential oils? No! That's not what it means at all. By all means, use your digestive herbal teas - they are probably going to be more effective.
But you can use essential oils to help with digestive issues, and I'll show you how.
I've researched the science and I've put together Better Than Digest. It's a recipe that works for upset tummy, bloating, cramping, and here's the key—it's safe for the whole family!
